The Vinalhaven Discussion Group was started few years ago by fishermen and other year-round island residents as well as summer residents.

Its main concern was in promoting peace and in commemoration of Hiroshima while recognizing the horror of nuclear war.

The groups goal is to promote understanding and civil discourse among all who are interested in combating hatred, violence and war in our country and the planet at large.

In the current political climate, confronting these issues has become necessary in order to preserve democracy and freedom of speech.

We welcome all members of the Vinalhaven community who wish to work toward the common good for all humankind.
